A poem Palestinian Dr. Akram Sobhi Habeeb wrote during the most recent war on #Gaza. The persona is a Palestinian child: Why have you dragged your dirty tanks to my home? Why have you flown all your jet fighters and drones? Why have stationed your vehicles with bomb smart? Why have you directed all your artillery to my heart? I am a Palestinian child like other children in the world, I have loved my country in the full meaning of the word. Is it a crime to love my lovely land Palestine? Is it a crime for me to have a dream so divine? You shelled my house with your artillery You destroyed my home with your military You killed my Mum, You killed my Dad, You killed my siblings, Little Lasses and lads You killed my life but not my dream Of living free in my homeland You killed my body but not my soul You crushed my bones but not my spirit I will forever remain a child Who will scorn and chide Its murderous murderer, The enemy of the childhood Who is lacking real manhood
