A precautionary boil water advisory remains in effect today for some United Water customers in Jersey City following a main break in the Downtown area yesterday. Customers from the Hoboken border to Grand Street and from the New Jersey Turnpike extension to the waterfront, excluding the Newport area, are advised to continue boiling water for at least one minute for drinking, cooking, baking, dishwashing and other consumption purposes until further notice. United Water acknowledged the inconvenience. The "first priority was to restore full service, and now [they] will focus on ensuring the quality of the water in the system," Chris Riat, senior director of New Jersey contract operations for United Water, said in a statement. United Water emergency crews are currently sampling the water to test its quality. For more information, go to: nj/hudson/index.ssf/2013/07/boil_water_advisory_still_in_effect_for_jersey_city.html
