A private thread Im on just reminded me of a recent conversation with a friend of mine who is very critical of private, #Christian (and #Muslim & Orthodox #Jewish) schools & their rigorous rules. I told her that is she didnt like the rules, dont send your child there - its just that simple. There are PLENTY of non-religious private schools to choose from. These religious based private schools do not receive public funding & therefore can do as they please in terms of prayer, reading from the Bible, a dress code...etc. Whatever happened to I dont like what you say/do but Ill fight to defend your RIGHT to say/do it?. You dont have to be a Christian nor agree with the rules of such #schools, but if you truly believe in #freedom of #religion & the #Constitution, youd find no reason to attack such an #education. Just dont participate & these schools are not knocking door to door trying to recruit your children, so come off of it already. This country is growing increasingly meddlesome in the private affairs of people & institutions which have no impact on everyones daily lives. Some need to mind their own business & families & leave others to do the same...
