A question from Marcus Liang: Hi Marcus - > Professor, Are the following two inverted sentences correct for A girl is singing over there? 1. Singing over there is a girl. 2. Over there is singing a girl. Both of these are only very MARGINALLY passable; both are *odd*, or at least highly context-bound. In 1., it is more usual to use a verb of *position* or directional physical movement, like standing, sitting or running. 2. would be much better like this: A girl is singing over there. > Thank you. Youre welcome and take care!
