A question to breeders. Have any of you heard of two litter mates, having two very different, but both very rare cancers? Some of this group may well remember the recent passing of my beautiful boy Mr Tiberius, aged 7 to a rare and aggressive cancer called Haemangiosarcoma. (Not normally seen in cats.)Now just 6wks on, we are going through a cancer diagnosis for his litter mate Mr Maximus. He started with the sniffles & a runny eye 4wks ago. After 2 scopes and biopsy, he was referred to The Willows Hospital. He was given CT Scan of head and abdomen. Biopsy taken from upper nasal passage, liver & spleen. He has a large lymphoma mass, obstructing his airways. Chemo & radiotherapy may help but only if we can rule out spread to liver & spleen. (Results pending) Historically both he and Mr Tiberius have had skin complaints, mainly involving the mouth. These appeared when they were just 4mths old. Resulted in being under the care of a dermatologist. And left awful scarring to their mouths. At 18mths Mr Maximus suffered fractures to both femoral heads. He just collapsed one day, and didnt get back up. Consequently both his femoral heads were removed, and some of the left femur. This was attributed to osteoarthritis. My 7 short years with these guys has been fraught with illness. But Id be interested to know if any of you have any information regarding the cancers. Utterly heartbroken at the moment, as Im still grieving for Mr Tiberius. 🐾😿🐾
