A quick word on Record Store Day and what it is, for those of you - TopicsExpress

A quick word on Record Store Day and what it is, for those of you who may not know. Although Vinyl is being released every month now, there is a special day (worldwide) where very special new releases come out. It could be a 10 Pink Vinyl EP from Kate Bush, or it could be a Picture Disc from Rush, it could be something from a new band or a re-issue of a huge retro hit. Only certain shops carry RSD vinyl, and some of it might make it to Aussie shops but the bulk will sell from the US or the UK. Heres the pros and cons. You can buy a new release from overseas, but the postage is often around $30 on top of the $50 you may have payed for an LP. Now you could wait to pick it up in a few months time, and in fact a lot of these records can be picked up from eBay or Discogs later. However, if its a big release, like Aladdin Sane from David Bowie, which came out as a picture disc, it might still be found on eBay, but for three times the original price, and you really take your chances because a record shop is more likely to keep things in good shape, but when it comes from a private seller? I personally would rather buy it online, that way I know Ive got it, and Im not paying an inflated price for it. So, save your pennies for April, because theres bound to be something wonderful coming out then that youd want. Get it from a record company, in good order and at a good price.
