A quiet end to the week ? After all the ups and down of the last few days yesterday was a bit on the quiet side. The main release of the day was the US GDP numbers which came out on the strong side at 2.5% on an annual basis. A smaller trade deficit and gains in inventories offset the federal budget cutbacks. The number, along with the low weekly jobless claims helped the dollar move ahead across the board. It improved to 1.32 against the euro and below 1.55 versus Sterling as the tensions over a strike on Syria continued to reverberate around the markets.
