A quote from my novel The Lost Paradise... :) I reached Tilak Nagar Metro Station. The Gurudwara was at walking distance from the metro station. I parked the car near the metro station and removed my sandals. It was mid-June. The temperature in Delhi was above 45C. The hot road nearly burnt my feet. I felt as if I was walking on burned charcoal and craved the.protection of slippers. There were small pebbles on the ground, which kept hurting my feet. One pebble got my foot badly. It started to bleed. I wanted to stop but then I remembered your innocent face and your condition. In a fraction of seconds, new energy swept through me. I started walking. When I reached the Gurudwara, I observed that hundreds of devotees had assembled at the shrine. I was astonished by the size of the crowd. Hymns from Guru Granth Sahib were being recited. There were many shops which sold Wahe Guru pendants and other such stuff to devotees. The gurdwara was located in a two-story brick building with a tall Sikh pennant flag fluttering atop it. It had octagonal domed sanctums in the middle. The basement- level houses had a full kitchen and a large langar hall where free meals were served. The darbar sahib (main hall), and a room for the Guru Granth Sahib (holy scripture) were located upstairs. There was a Shabad Kirtan where devotees were singing hymns from Guru Granth Sahib. According to Sikh tradition, we had to cover our heads before entering the Gurudwara. I covered my head with my handkerchief. I folded my hands as I entered the Gurudwara. I was struck by a sudden sense of peace that overwhelmed me. I had never felt so good in my whole life. I found peace inside the Gurudwara and bowed down to pray.
