A rather long, but meaningful post: Tonight I am off to a visitation for both my husbands paternal grandparents. (Yes, both - they passed within four days of each other.) They were wonderful people and in my short 10 years with this family, I have incredibly fond memories of them. In my quest to launch WanderSnappers, Ive had several people ask me, Why bother? when it comes to traveling with your family. Its often times more difficult than staying at home with the comforts of regular mealtimes, bedtimes etc. But, this doesnt create the memories that we remember. One of my best memories of his grandparents was sitting around a campfire while camping only 40 minutes of home. We had dinner and a cold beer and talked about their life until it was dark. It was wonderful to listen to how they had met, the trouble they got into and more funny stories about their lives as parents. It proves that you dont have to go far and spend loads of money or even have action-packed itineraries to make these memories with your family. Youll remember these times most fondly when you look back. So splurge or save, but remember to spend time with the ones you love most dearly. -Ashley
