When I was 8 years old my pediatrician felt a lump in my throat, diagnosis a goiter. I was put on medicine and had follow up visits every 3 months. When they determined I my levels were good I was taken off the medication. This yo yo was the story of my life. Not one time did any dr ever tell me what a thyroid does, what it controls or why I always felt off. When I hit puberty was when the hell truly began. I was put on anti depressants when the first didnt work they would prescribe another, I was put on sleeping pills, ADHD medication and finally xanax. I was truly a walking Elvis. I had to have a pill to wake up and a pill to sleep. I dont even remember most of my teenage years. I had no problems with fertility actually seems it was just the opposite for me. Fast forward a few years. Last year this guy at work asked me why my neck was so fat. I was then shocked that he could now tell I had a goiter. I went to the dr he done my levels and determined that my medication was not working and asked me if I wanted to see a surgeon. Of course I had tons of questions his exact words were lets just remove it you will feel better and one little pill is all you will ever need to feel normal. Of course I had no clue what normal was. This is where the hell really began. They removed my throid found out I had cancer. I done the radiactive iodine treatment and the diets. My work worked with me every step of the way. I am still not 100% my vocal cords were damaged so I can no longer do the job I was so good at but they found an alternative position all was looking up. Until today. They told me I had to work a full 40 hours a week or I would be terminated. I still have the headaches I am still tired all the time, and working part time was a battle. I am taking 2 15mg oxycontin and 3 loratab 7.5 also prescribed 3 1mg xanaxes a day oh a ritalin that I havent even gotten filled. I cant find a dr that will prescribe be armor or cytomel.
