A recent study reveals that more people have been killed by hurricanes with female names than male names. Why? It seems people feel less fear when a storm carries a female name, and tend to be less worried about evacuating and preparing. Apparently, the unconscious assumption is that because women are meeker and milder than men, so too will hurricanes with female names be meeker and milder than male storms. Fascinating how ones unconscious internal biases can cause such an error in judgment to occur, isnt it?
