A reflection on the Brazilian State And the story is repeated: Once created the world, an angel was indignant: Good God , the Lord randomly distributed over the Earth the active volcanoes, earthquakes, tornadoes, ice ... least in Brazil!. God of infinite wisdom, objected: But you will see the people that I put in there! Yeah! The people have done wrong. And the media, which was censored, not spread some news, reported that the SUS (Unified Health System) in the last five years, was injured in 250 million US$, due to the resources applied unevenly by local governments, governments and public institutions. Discovered by the 1339 audits made in these period, 113 have compensation estimated at more than half a million dollars each. (Complicated people! Well that God warned, but did not have to choose that much!) The Ministry of Health is in charge to get back what was the drain of corruption. Maybe our grandchildren s grandchildren receive some news that some pennies have been recovered, since the legal path is long. Although people do not always get queries by the SUS in the million dollars missing cake, for one case, at least, unlikely: in a single day, a single patient was seen 201 times at a clinic in Agua Branca, State of Piauí. Most surprising: the clinic had the courage to send the invoice (as required by law) of 201 queries of that patient to the NHS! Or the SUS was extremely efficient in serving the citizen, or he must be very sick, or even with a lack of faith, making believe the number of queries. In the advertising, Brazil is the country of wonders, here everything is beautiful, the people are satisfied with their needs. Actually, not quite like this. There are striking gaps in the health sector. Crime is a full plate in the news. There are bandits infiltrated in police forces: money is a corrupting valuable. Our roads are not the most desirable. Important sectors such as education and policing receive low salaries. If well-paid the police would not corrupt itself to the crime and the teachers would not strike. And the law (Yes the law!) in practice seems to favor criminals and ignore the honest citizen. For this honest citizen, drive, only if in a shielded car. Walking only on the treadmil. Lunch outside, just in the backyard. Travel, only by reading books. God fulfilled the promise. Half of the people is cruel. The other half, neurotic, locked up in houses full of bars. Or in apartments in a gated community, apparently safer.
