A remarkable new acquisition will be on display at Canterbury Roman Museum from 4th October 2014. A rare soldier’s helmet from the time of Julius Caesar along with brooch, small spike and some cremated human remains were discovered at Bridge near Canterbury in September 2012. The finds were excavated by Canterbury Archaeological Trust and were declared one of the key finds of 2012 by the British Museum, in recognition of its significance and rarity. We are excited to announce the soldier’s helmet has found a permanent home here at Canterbury Roman Museum, not far from where it was originally discovered. canterbury.co.uk/museums/roman-museum/Iron-Age-Helmet.aspx
