A reorganization of San Juan Countys Community Development and - TopicsExpress

A reorganization of San Juan Countys Community Development and Planning Department is underway beginning with the dismissal of Planning Coordinator Shireene Hale. She was originally hired as a full-time senior planner in 2006 after filling a temporary role in the department in 2005. Her last day of work is set for August 1, 2014. During her tenure the county has been embroiled in the controversial update to the Critical Areas Ordinance. Political pressure to remove Hale has come from some opponents of the new regulations. Personnel decisions are the purview of the county manager. The county council assigned the authority for making those decisions before seeking a permanent manager. According to county Human Resources and Risk Manager Pamela Morais, a press release originally planned to be issued Friday, June 27 will be available this afternoon.
