I almost canceled my appointment with the orthopedic clinic because my thumb feels so much better than it did three weeks ago. But I went... and they are certain I need surgery. The surgeon said that if I dont do it the most likely outcome is that I dont get more strength that Ive already regained, will get bone sheering, will get arthritis in it, but will also have the instability. Also, it will never stop hurting. He says the sooner the better and its too bad I didnt come in weeks ago! We were waiting for that deductible to reset. :( I forgot the name of the torn ligament, but its between thumb and index finger. Im scheduled for Monday because I just couldnt make myself take the Friday appointment. I almost never get weekends with the kids and I wanted to enjoy this one! Perspectives? Make me less scared of general? He says doing it with local only is out of the question.
