A reply from Southwest Airlines ON my complaint last week. Turns - TopicsExpress

A reply from Southwest Airlines ON my complaint last week. Turns out that Southwest does seed boarding position based on fare value. Nice explanation and letter but it would be nice if this was clearly stated on the website so you dont think that just because you are purchasing EarlyBird boarding you will receive a lower number in the cue. Still a lot better than the cattle call the other major airlines do. On a post-script to my original post, for $40 dollars I purchased the early boarding in A 1-15 at the gate. Dear ----, Thank you so much for taking the time to contact us about your travel experience from Baltimore to Denver on November 14. I attempted to reach you by phone and regret that I missed you. I am truly sorry for your disappointment over the EarlyBird service that you purchased. We understand that some of our Customers may be curious to know the method used to assign boarding positions to those who purchase EarlyBird Check-In. EarlyBird boarding positions are assigned first for reservations booked at our Anytime Fare, then assigned to all other fares based on when the EarlyBird purchase was added to the reservation. Keep in mind that the boarding position assignment begins 36 hours prior to the flights scheduled departure time (general checkin begins 24 hours prior to the flight’s scheduled departure time). I do see that Stephanie’s flight was purchased at an Anytime Fare, so that would explain the difference in your positions. I sincerely regret any confusion regarding this purchase and any frustration you experienced when boarding your flights. We work hard to make travel as stress free and fun as possible, and I apologize if this was not your experience. I appreciate the time you took to send your e-mail; I will certainly make your comments available for review by our Senior Leadership.
