A report of the Urban Institute and RWJF released this week details the economic consequences to the 24 states that have not elected to expand Medicaid. Not only are the states held hostage by the Party of NO leaving behind 6.7 million individuals who are projected to remain uninsured in 2016 as a result of foregoing expansion, they are denying $423.6 billion in federal Medicaid funds that could have contributed to increased job growth. Hospitals in non-expansion states are slated to lose a $167.8 billion boost in Medicaid funding.
