A republican friend posted this to his facebook. Nicely said Greg Ellis! As the TV pundits and national Republicans crow about the wave of Republican wins across the country, please remember this: The average turnover (since FDR) in off-year elections is that the President in power loses 24 House seats and 3-4 Senate seats. The biggest swing in the House was Pres. Obamas first term (lost 63 Democrat seats), and the biggest swing in the Senate was Pres. Eisenhowers second term (lost 13 Republican Senators). Tonights results are right in line with every other off-year election; 7 new Republican Senators (52 Republicans in the Senate, and maybe 53 depending on Louisiana) and 20-25 new Republicans in the House. This isnt about a mandate; this isnt a referendum on the President or his policies. This is a typical election where those who are unhappy with the President turned out to vote and those who are satisfied did not. BTW--this type of post is what separates me from my liberal friends, who seem to universally back the Democrat positions, right or wrong. I generally vote Republican, but voted for at least three Democrats this time. If you cant be honest about your own partys failings you just cant be honest.
