A second man has been charged after a police officer sustained facial injuries in a brawl outside a hotel in Katoomba overnight. Police were called to a hotel on Parke Street about 9.15pm (Monday 20 October, 2014) following reports of a fight. On arrival police found a number of people on Main Street fighting. Officers ran to break up the fight resulting in one officer being punched in the face causing facial cuts and damage to his teeth. The officer hit his head on the pavement and was briefly knocked unconscious. Further police were called to the location which resulted in one arrest. A 23-year-old Wentworth Falls man was taken to Katoomba Police Station where he was charged with resisting arrest and hindering police in the execution of their duty. He was given bail and will appear in Katoomba Local Court November 10. A 24-year-old man was arrested about 5am (Tuesday 21 October 2014), at his home in Katoomba. He was charged with assault police, and hinder police. He was granted bail to appear in Katoomba Local Court on Monday 17 November 2014. The injured officer was treated at Katoomba Hospital and held for several hours for observation before being released this morning. He is recovering at home.
