A segment from the Australian music interview TV series GTK (Get To Know), which aired in 10 minute segments on the ABC nightly from Monday to Thursday at 6:30PM, from 1969-1975. This particular segment features an explanation (in a rather mocking fashion), about the introduction of Daylight Saving in the eastern seaboard states in the summer of 1971-1972. To do this, GTK had Miss Daylight Saving 1971, mockingly, explain the concept and science behind daylight saving time (DST). This was to highlight the general confusion of the Australian public during DSTs introduction. Daylight saving was originally introduced to Australia (all states and territories) during World War 1, as an energy saving wartime measure.
