A short excerpt from my latest WIP. I hope youll read it and let me know what you think. Im still looking for character names for a man and a woman. (The two characters in this excerpt) Heavy rain rushed from the black sky, falling against the window pane, blurring the view of the street three stories below. The room was dark, with only the light from the full moon filtering through gossamer curtains and settling on his face, creating a mellow glow that caused his features to soften, almost like that of someone sleeping. But he wasn’t asleep. It hadn’t been raining when she arrived, just thirty minutes ago and she wondered briefly about becoming soaked when she left and walked the block away to her car. She didn’t have the time to wait for the rain to subside and she hadn’t brought an umbrella with her, but she didn’t dwell on this minor detail. She had a more pressing task at hand. She’d worn her black leather driving gloves, but still wiped down every smooth surface in the room…just in case. Once she finished cleaning, she remembered the knife. She couldn’t leave it behind, as it could be strong evidence and leave a trail leading straight to her door and she certainly didn’t need the police knocking asking a bunch of questions. The knife was much harder to pull out than it had been to shove deep into the center of his chest. She struggled, tugging with all her might and finally pushed down firmly on his left shoulder with her right boot-clad foot, yanking it free. With the knife in hand, she reached for the small rag she’d brought with her and wiped it clean before slipping it in to the inside pocket of her navy trench coat and put the rag in the outside pocket. She tightened her belt, raised the collar and left the hotel, closing the door gently behind her and walked purposefully to the stairway exit. She didn’t hurry though, because she didn’t want to draw any attention, not even in the form of a raised eyebrow. Thanks for your support!!
