A society that allows the conditions for torture is the one educated under values of competitiveness, selfishness, individualism, blind obedience, autoritarism, consumism, repression and violence, all of which are historical characteristics of the mexican society, but those are also part of the global system we live in, for that and many other reasons we need to understand the apparently isolated events or far away facts, as part of global politics, we need to relate them all with what happens in each of our countries, challenge our routinary life and question what we see and heard, be inform and support the different social fights in the world, in the way we can. Cause as a mexican student that informs and takes part in political acts, it could have been me missing, cause as a mexican women it could have been me the girl killed or raped, it could have been me the one taken by the narco government or the one working for the same drug cartels cause its impossible to live with 60 pesos a day(5 dollars aprox is the minimum wage in mexico, not per hour but per day). For the ones who had read the news saying it was the Mexican moment about a year ago, know it is, but not because of the structural reforms that were made to sell mexico completely, but because society is starting, only starting, to wake up.
