A solid oak tree warmed herself by a fire. Im in love, said the tree to the fire. With who? Asked the fire. With you. Confessed the tree. The fire stilled, no one had ever said they loved him--not in this way. Do you feel the same way about me? Asked the tree. I think so. Grumbled the fire. You think so?! You think so?! Bellowed the tree. Y--ye--es, stuttered the fire. Show me, demanded the tree. The fire thought for a moment. He was a bit confused. Why so quiet? Asked the tree. I suppose because I thought youd realize that by warming you, means I love you. The tree considered this and then, Not good enough. The fire breathed deeply. What must I do to prove that I love you? Asked the fire. A girl enjoys a spectacle. I mean youre so hot and powerful and everyone sort of fears and or respects you, beamed the tree. So power turns you on? Asked the fire. Indeed, confessed the tree. With that the fire grinned, overcome with feelings of affection and appreciation. He swelled with pride and grew bigger than he ever had. The tree swooned as the fires flames reached up and out towards the tree. The tree giggled with dangerous fascination as the fire came gravely close to her limbs. The fire, seeing the excitement his actions had yielded from the tree made him grow all the more bigger. Soon they were lost in one another, the fire growing bigger and bigger, burning the limbs of the tree. The tree screamed out in a mixture of ecstasy and pain, as the fire consumed her. Time passed and the fire stilled himself, exhilarated and pleased with himself. Well my love, how was that for spectacle? The fire asked the tree. But of course the tree couldnt speak. She was gone. The fire wept, realizing what he had done. His tears spilled out over the charred roots of the tree. No life remained just ashes of their fleeting dangerous love affair.
