A song from my album GREEN SIDE UP entitled Armistice Day. This is the true story of my great-uncle Fred Smith. To escape from a German prison camp, he and a mate strangled two guards to death with their bare hands, donned the German uniforms, and walked out. They hid during the day for the next five or so weeks, traveled at night, until they were finally found by a British patrol. After going through that hell-on-earth, the very next day when they woke up, it was 11/11/18 -- Armistice Day. The war was over.
