That’s strange when you take into consideration I never had any reason to deal with the law. We had this pet, a docile poodle. Sometimes we did not trim his hair so he walked around looking like a Rasta dog. Every night I would walk him down this alley where we lived. Now granted, I did not mind walking him - that was until The Coal Miner’s Daughter decided to buy the poor creature a bloody dress. Anyway, I was taking him on his walk when I was accosted by two police officers. Their car was parked across the alley, lights flashing. As I approached, they turned to me and asked what I was doing. I looked at them then looked at the dog, “I am going to use my voracious beast of a dog. Right, killer? I was going to attack someone and rob them of their belongings.” “You have a smart mouth,” the cop said, taking a step to me. Images of the fifties’ south flashed in my head. I saw the headlines flash before me: Seven-foot Tall Black Man Walking A Poodle Wearing A Dress Attacks Two White Cops. After some of that macho posturing, they let me go. They said they were looking for two white girls. I guess one tall black man makes two white girls.
