A study of the affidavits of 2,336 of the 4,119 candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections has revealed that as many as 798 of them are facing criminal cases with Shiv Sena topping the list of such nominees, followed by erstwhile ally BJP. NCP and Congress are also not behind. As an icing on the cake, notorious gangster Chotta Rajans brother is being fielded by the RPI, an alliance partner of the BJP in Maharashtra. ADR report says Shivsena - Candidate with criminal cases 169, serious criminal cases 114. BJP - Candidate with criminal cases 138, serious criminal cases 84. NCP - Candidate with criminal cases 119, serious criminal cases 80. Congress - Candidate with criminal cases 96, serious criminal cases 56. While the people have continuously talked about eradicating corruption and de-criminalizing politics, political parties have fielded huge numbers of candidates with criminal cases cutting across party lines in the coming Maharashtra polls. The Logical Indian is pretty sure, de-decriminalization of politics will not happen as long as we vote criminals into power. Its upto us to see to that we send clean candidates to the State Legislatures or the Parliament. Lets take a stance now, demand which ever party you support to field clean candidates and if clean candidates arent from your favourite party, then vote for best candidate. This time around, let our vote be for non-corrupt and non criminal background candidates! The Logical Indian
