A subway train fully loaded with people, approaching Xidan station, which is one of the busiest business district in Beijing. The train arrives in 4-7 minutes interval at peak hours and runs on electricity. Its more than just being more environmentally friendly and reduces the overall carbon emissions but also the only practical and fastest way of getting to your destination, as you dont have to deal the horrible ground traffic, signal lights, etc., and can give exact estimation of your arrival. Its not fun to take the subway, however. Be prepared to be squeezed into the train like I am about to :-). If you are unlucky or waiting at a popular station you may have to wait for a couple or even more trains before you can even have your feet onboard.
