A superb end to Haworth Festival 2014. Rosa Sargent added - TopicsExpress

A superb end to Haworth Festival 2014. Rosa Sargent added character and style to her set pieces and despite a few blocks (completely understandable after such a stressful few weeks), played the audience in a way Ive never seen her achieve before. The progress this young woman has achieved over the past two years is awesome and leaves me so excited to see what she will be capable of as an 18-year-old in another two years. And then there was Jacobean Ruff. A Leeds indie/folk/traditional/pop/you-hum-it-we-can-play-it band gathering fans everywhere they play. I know that they have some formal music training - its obvious watching them at work. But whereas most bands stick to the rules and a select few learn the rules and progress to break them, lead singer Sophie Pearson is someone who can successfully break the rules without ever having learnt them. To call her vocals experimental would be an gross insult. She knows what she is doing and she does it beautifully.
