A tale of two laptops$$$$$$$$$$ I sat on my bed in my room staring at two laptops last A Dell and a HP laptop One had Windows 7 operating system and the other had Windows 8 More importantly The Dell was now 3years old and the HP was barely 3 days old My Dell laptop had data from 2011 till date and it was time to move it to the museum It has been battered by countless hours of typing Upgrades of operating systems and i have replaced almost every part of this machine from screen to keyboard to numerous power packs It has served me long enough. Recently,it rebelled and began with constant display driver errors The screen would go blank at a moment’s notice and then Like a very old woman It would come back alive While keeping my heart racing Other times,it would just freeze and suddenly announce a memory dump So I quickly raced to the computer shop Bought a new laptop and transferred all my data to the new laptop. Yet,here was I,staring at the two laptops I was still using the old laptop I barely touched the new fine sparkling laptop Then,I shrugged “Am I addicted to the old crap?” “No man having drunk old wine straightaway desires the new wine For he saith The old is better.” Yes! That was the scripture in Quran that struck me and the pieces fell into place: 1. They won’t let go their old habits even if I presented them with new ones 2. It is easier to stick with patched up,breakup today-and- mend again tomorrow,abusive and misused ungodly relationships than to dare to start afresh 3. They won’t let go of out-of-line, lack-of-focus relationships with out-dated guys even when God’s intended will in marriage is staring at them OH ALLAH, what do I do about my old and new laptops? When will I type my last memo on the old and move on to the new laptop? Am I going to stay here until the inevitable happens and it finally packs up? Or am I praying and hoping in denial and sadly postponing the evil day? When will you let go of the old unproductive relationship So that you can get healed to start a new relationship? Be wise,make your decisions early.
