A train-wreck in the making. Not because Johansson cant act, but because of the likely rationale behind this decision. I can imagine the discussion now. So theres this Kusanagi chick whos very stoic, stone-faced and has nice curves. Whos goin to be her American equivalent? How about Scarlett Johansson? She had the whole femme fatale thing down to a tee in The Avengers, and she could pull off a fairly emotionless look in Lucy. In the spirit of staying true to the source material, we should be looking for someone whos actually more fitting to portray the character, instead of exclusively focusing on whos popular with the viewers. Thats a horrible idea. What is wrong with you?! As I was saying, she is perfect for depicting a robot! An augmented-cybernetic human... ... Same difference. Who the hell invited this guy anyway? Never mind him. Throw 10 million bucks her way, see if shes swayed Got it. Shes blowin up right now, shes sure to reel in that good money! Here, here! *Everyone laughs diabolically* Not only that, but the director of Snow White and the Huntsman is set to direct. Ive heard only horrible things about that abomination. Oh, and Mark Sourian (Need for Speed) along with Steven Paul (GHOST RIDER! FRIGGIN GHOST RIDER! UGH!) are both attached to the project. Ill bet anything that the producers of the movie will significantly dumb down the philosophical undertones of the original.
