A two-week long 27th Islamic orientation program (IOP) for women teachers arranged by Dawah Centre for Women, Dawah Academy of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) concluded here on Monday. The program was attended by 35 female teachers belonging to various cities of the country while guests of honour of its concluding ceremony were Vice President (AF & P) Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman and Vice President (Academics) Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad. Incharge Dawah centre for women, Shugafta Omar was also present on the occasion. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, in his address said that role of women for disseminating Islam’s message was neglected in the history of sub-continent and now it’s our responsibility to give them due place for accomplishment of the purpose. He congratulated Muslim women for service of Islam while naming the world known female Islamic scholars. “If we want our nation among the ranks of successful nations, we would have to work for women empowerment in our society” he said. Addressing the participants, Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said misconceptions about Islam are due to inappropriate knowledge about our religion, Islam gives core importance to the education of women. “No society can excel until an educated woman has an opportunity to play her vital role in it” he said. He added that real nations are those which rule on hearts instead of ruling on necks and to be a real nation and conquer our enemies, we would have to adopt the weapon of education. He stressed upon female participants to devote themselves for promotion of education while terming them real asset which can make the fate of nation. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said teaching and training are in instinct of a woman and they should utilize this granted blessing to develop an educated and harmonious society. Earlier, Shugfta Omar briefed the guests and participants about the performance and achievements of Dawah Centre for women. She apprised that so far, centre has arranged 85 training programs including Hajj training programs which were duly appreciated by Ministry of Religious Affairs. Before that, Faryal Ambreen, coordinator of program gave an overview of the program. At the end certificates of completion of the programme were also distributed among the participants by Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad and Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman. -xee
