A very beaztiful version of Fidelio of Beethoven !!! It has been said that composers are either made for instrumental music and not opera, or made for opera and not so much to instrumental music ... And one of the only exception was ... MOZART !!! Of course one could have said the same of Beethoven : he was not maid to compose an opera ... he wrote only one opera, FIDELIO, and it could be said that this opera is quite not an opera in the complete sense of the term ... So now listen to this video of the final : of course, maybe the action is not so theatrical than in many other operas, but isnt it as thrillimg as many pof the best pieces of beethoven notably the nineth symphony ? And, secondly, you can see that this final is only composed in music, I mean there are any recitatives, only dialogues in pure music !!! Beethoven surely annpoiunced already at his time the futur great ramantic operas like the ones of Wagner, with their complete lack of recitatives and only pure music ............
