A very good, sunny afternoon sister!! The weather has been so intensely awesome in gorgeous Cape Town. To our sisters in winter stricken countries, yall are welcome to visit us down here in South Africa. In fact a get together is likely to happen in a few months, so keep an eye on the page for announcement to that effect. Todays insert offers a beautiful perspective about the power of living in the moment. Have a read and enjoy. Blessing, grace, love and joy to you all! The Power of Now I was once told “Yesterday is History. Tomorrow is A Mystery. Today is a Gift. That’s why it is called the Present.” It took me a while to get to a place where I appreciated the present for what it is instead of spending time harping on failures and regrets of the past or fretting about the unknowns of the future. I am still getting to that place with time and I am thankful that God has given me the revelation that His mercies are new every morning and we can tap into his grace daily. His provisions are on a daily basis so we do not have to be overly concerned about anything (Lamentations 3:22-23; Matthew 6:11; Philippians 4:6, 7) I am now in a place that I am working towards my professional, academic, and personal goals. It takes a lot of courage, discipline, grace and being comfortable with moving forward in some areas and exercising patience in the areas that are not moving forward as quickly as you would like. The most important thing though is to have a vision because without one, you will perish (Proverbs 29:18). That is why my song of the moment is “Am I Wrong” by Nico & Vinz. Not only does their music video give a positive portrayal of Africa which is so badly needed in light of current events, the lyrics of this summer hit really resonate with me. It talks about the importance of walking down your own unique path and not being caught up with what everybody else is doing. It also asks a rhetorical question of “Am I tripping for having a vision? “with the logical response being no. You must have self-confidence that you will get to where you need to be if you do not allow yourself or others to hold you back and seek support from those who believe in the beauty of your dreams. Although the power of now is in appreciating today, there is nothing wrong with having a vision for a better tomorrow so long as it does not distract you from what you are going through day-by-day and steal away today’s joy. So then, it is necessary to reconcile and make peace with your past, experience God’s mercy and grace in your daily life and look forward to the future.
