A very short rant is about to ensue. . . I just received an Email from Concordia University. In honor of the Great American Smokeout on Thursday, November 21st . . . We encourage all who smoke to refrain from doing so on-campus on Thursday . . . in support of those who smoke and may want to quit but find it difficult to do so, or for those who are in the process of quitting. Okay, this is all well and good. Oh Goodie were getting those awful, gross, dumb smokers to stop for a day. I feel as though people are either stupid enough to believe that those of us who smoke are too childish to make our own decisions, or they are stupid enough to believe, on ANY LEVEL, that this is going to suddenly help people stop smoking. OBVIOUSLY it is bad for us, but so is being overweight, eating fast food, driving too fast, drinking coffee etc . . . NO $hit its bad for people, but I guarantee that these people trying to help us have just as many habits that are less than beneficial for them to have. Those of us who smoke on campus do it because we enjoy smoking and like the social atmosphere, in essence, we like our smoking circles and WE ALL KNOW the risks. I am always amazed at this hippie BS that comes out of some peoples mouths in regards to a healthier lifestyle. I will reiterate. . . OBVIOUSLY smoking is UNHEALTHY, and the best part is, WE SMOKERS KNOW IT IS UNHEALTHY. We do it because it is something that we enjoy. With that knowledge, those of you who are against smoking, heed my words. Go and sit on a few hot coals until you can figure your own issues out, and dont EVER tell me when I can and cannot smoke a cigarette, particularly in a designated smoking spot. Moving on. ;) Btw, handing out cigarettes with a bow tied around them tomorrow. :p tehe
