A vintage car rally is an expression of our love for vintage cars; a fashion shoot is to showcase the designs of the designer and yet we use these and so many other events to spread awareness of violence against women. Do they not see how aritificial and self-indulgent these events become when this tag is put on them and how totally useless it is to the cause? If only all this energy could somehow be channeled into the education of the perpetrators, into inculcating into the male of our species a respect for the women around them and most importantly to help women themselves to not perpetuate the my son syndrome or take the bullying lying down, to accept that it is NOT ok to be beaten by your husband or any male relative, that it is NOT ok for teachers male or female to take advantage of the child ... Im not preaching here. I have no solutions. I feel totally useless and unable to see how we better the situation. Just saying...
