A visit to Middle Earth (Matamata N.Z) undertaken Saturday 20 Sept 2014. Hobbiton The Shire movie set where Lord Of The Rings and the Hobbit Trilogy was also produced. A wonderful place and experience. In case you ask the Camera is a Canon EOS 5D MK 3, with Sigma 50 - 500 mm telephoto zoom. I only had about an hour to 1.5 hours of the two hour tour to take photos, so didnt want to be swapping lenses with the adverse weather. I would have liked to have taken another camera as well, perhaps one with a prime lens on it but, the weather was way too inclement and I didnt want to put all my gear at risk of damage. The day started out wet and changeable, it picked up and of course I had an umbrella to lug around as well. At one stage it was heaving with rain (and carried on raining for a while), camera and gear was getting wet, umbrella turned inside out, wind blown etc etc. Very difficult to manage the camera and the umbrella in those conditions. It fined up later on. The sky colours ranged from grey to blues. Happy that the light was not to harsh. Overall a fantastic epic adventure into Hobbition. I think I will be back there before Christmas to have another look at it and see what can be improved upon. The plants will all be different then and it may not be so green (our summer here in N.Z). A couple of images cropped a little but no other editing. My lens got wet, damn it. I didnt see the rain drops until later, ............. note to self ! If you go there ...... go early for the easterly natural light shines upon the Hobbit houses. Cheers everyone.
