A week ago tomorrow I was a part of a once-in-a-lifetime evening honoring my high school drama teacher, mentor and friend Ted Walch with an endowed chair at Harvard-Westlake School. He had absolutely no idea this was happening -- it was a complete and successful surprise orchestrated by producer extraordinaire Marc Platt. He thought he was going out to dinner! Dozens of Walchs former students from all the way back in 1991 came back to school to perform pieces of some of his favorite shows, gives speeches and pay tribute to a guy who has profoundly touched all of our lives. Walch had absolutely no idea any of this was happening. WATCH the entire event here: youtu.be/FyeU75aOuE0?t=32m48s I was honored to be asked to emcee the night along with Allan Rice. Youll see familiar faces paying tribute to Walch like parents Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, former student actors like Fran Kranz, Jason Segel, and Ben Platt, and some of your favorite show tunes. You know you love them. Even if this means nothing to you, there is one thing that will: many of us have touched by a great teacher who has changed our lives. And that is who Ted Walch is to all of us. Special thanks to my main man Edward Hu for working to make this a reality for years and, of course, for the photos.
