A week late but better late than never. We left Brisbane on time last week Tuesday en route to Amsterdam, to see family and friends. Flight was uneventful but we had a 8 1/2 hour stop over in Singapore. We managed to get a 6 hour hotel room and get some rest, shower and more rest, in between the great shopping centre inside the terminal. we didnt buy anything, the ideal shopping venture. 13 hours to Amsterdam was next and again a fairly easy flight. 2 movies, 2 meals and 4-5 hours sleep got me though the flight while Karen probably did 3 movies and less sleep!! :) Arrived in Amsterdam to be greeted by Natalie and Melissa at Schiphol. The usual Fiorenza/Webb tears flowed and it was great to see the girls after 15 months (Nat) and 5 months (Mel). Hung around the airport for a coffee and then checked into our AirBNB place in Wilhelminastraat. Lovely cosy place in a quiet street. Ideal for us 2. We had a nap for a little while before hitting the local pub with the girls to watch Netherlands Vs Australia in the World Championships Football. Great match and great atmosphere among the Dutchies. I am glad we won. Next day I got hit by a virus and we tried to go for a few walks but were absolutely zonked. First thought was jetlag but symptoms were quite different. I slept for most of the days until about Tuesday and felt a lot better after that. A few small walks in Vondelpark helped getting some sunshine and fresh air. Luckily Karen lagged a few days behind me and was able to celebrate Nats birthday over the weekend. Today, our first fit day, we had a lovely day with the girls visiting the Zaanse Schans, Volendam en Marken. More news and photos to follow
