A wise mama asks: I have thrush from breastfeeding my 2mo and went to my doctor three days ago to get a prescription to treat it. I was given pills (not sure what they are - theyre across the room and I have a sleeping baby on me!) and Jack Newmans nipple cream. I didnt see my normal doctor and the woman I did see said that because my daughter doesnt have visible symptoms, she didnt need to be treated. Looking online, this appears to be wrong. I even questioned her about it, as my daughter has been pushing my breast away while feeding, so it seemed like she needed to be treated also. Now, shes become very fussy and has horrible gas that seems to really be bothering her. She was screaming last night, more than usual, and Im afraid shes in pain. She also isnt feeding as much as normal. I have an appointment on Monday with my regular doctor, but I really want to know if theres anything I can do for her over the weekend. I dont have access to a store that would carry anything too hard to find (our local health food store burned down recently), but Im desperate for something that will get us through the weekend. Also, the doctor told me to wash/wipe off the Jack Newmans nipple cream before feeding, but online it says to not do this. Does anyone know if its safe for my daughter to ingest it? Thanks!
