A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.” By: Maya Angelou I absolutely love this quote because it spells out what we as young women should look for in our next boyfriend or husband. A guy should go all out to pursue you and his intentions must be pure of heart. He should be a God fearing Christian man. I’m not saying he should be perfect but in the eyes of The Lord he should be the perfect person for you. We as young girls/women our hearts are so vulnerable. We tend to look at the outside before we get to know the inside. We tend not to trust God and jump into relationships without even praying about it or simply going to God for direction. We also tend to lower our standards and take a lot of the crap that many of the guys dish out. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in these relationships that we forget to love ourselves,love God and just have quality time with ourselves. Also for all you single girls like me we obviously have to guard our hearts and not give into that feeling of loneliness because as soon as we give into that loneliness our perspectives and our judgements become clouded and we tend to make stupid decisions when it comes to affairs of the heart. I live by this bible scripture “Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.” (Proverbs 4:23) (NIRV). This scripture is the truth it connects with so much aspects of your life. Your heart may tell you one thing but your head may say another. I always say if your heart and mind aren’t aligned then the decision you are making might not be the right one and you need to talk to God. When trying to form a relationship with a guy or getting to know him you need to go to God, talk to him ask him for wisdom and direction. You need to ask him to strengthen your heart but also open your heart to also get to know this person. You also need to surround your self with wise friends and supporting family members who will have your back no matter what. You need to make sure that this guy isn’t the fool that proverbs talks about. He needs to be the wise man that holds his temper, listens to advice and seeks counsel of other wise men, he needs to honor his mother and father, he must be a peacemaker and learns from his mistakes and receives instructions humbly and he needs to be a god fearing and loving and trustworthy man. Here are some bible verses to just keep close to your heart: Where there is no guidance, a people falls,but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. (Proverbs 11:14 ESV) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23) “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ESV) For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)
