A writer friend of mine, Lorie Huston, passed away suddenly the other day. I was shocked when I heard the news and deeply saddened. Our paths first crossed about 6 years ago while we were both writing for the same publication. In our global online writing world, many writers form friendships with one another, but due to vast distances between them, many never meet but carry on those friendships for years, yet never having the pleasure of meeting one another. Being a writer can be a lonely profession. We sit at our computers all day, every day in our own little world, most of the time never meeting our coworkers and peers. Its a solitary existence for most of us. Fortunately I lived just 5 miles down the road from Lorie -- Rhode Island is a very small state -- and I was blessed to have known her personally and enjoy numerous lunches and chats with her over the years. Lorie was a veterinarian practicing in the Providence area. She was a devoted cat lover that rescued many, 6 of them eventually working their way into her heart and into her home in Warwick. She leaves them behind but I doubt for very long. Her beloved kitties need to find loving homes soon. If you can help please see the following post. Good bye Lorie. They are currently located in the Providence area. Lorie Huston had six cats in her home in Rhode Island. Now that she has passed away, they need help finding new homes.
