A year a go to the day. Twas Friday 6th September and it was a beautiful warm evening. I arrived at work 15 minutes prior to the start time and I was actually in a great mood. I had the following week off to look forward to, Molly would be 2 on the following Monday and I was geared up for work. I walked upstairs to the flat and as I walked in my boss and one of my chefs was sat there, talking about something I had done. They both looked completely disappointed and the the gaffer asked me to go in the office. I knew what was coming but I put on a brave face to say the least. He told me that he had caught me doing something I shouldnt have on camera, he asked if his accusations were correct to which I replied yes. He gave me three options and I took the latter of the three, I needed to change my employer within four weeks. I came back home that night and cried like no Father who should be a hero to his child did, I cried because I had let her down with my stupidity. Today, my area manager came and gave me a huge compliment, a massive compliment to be honest which actually brought a tear to my eye. A years worth of career rebuilding (to the exact day) was beautifully summed up by my bosses encouraging words, to the point a year a go when I thought I was finished today felt like I was back at the Harvester again, but the first time I was there and I actually earned respect because of how hard I worked. I put in 102 hours from bank hol Monday to last Monday (which included a meeting) and folks say to me its illegal and I shouldnt be doing it, but in my position as a Father, a kitchen manager, a professional, a friend and as a son of the living God, I thank God and I am grateful of everyday that I go to work and can provide for my family. What a difference a year makes.
