A year ago I posted a detailed history of this song (which George intended as a cross-religious statement), its making, reactions of John Lennon and Elton John, the Chiffons resulting copyright infringement lawsuit (Hes So Fine), etc. Look back in my 2014 stuff for all that. MSL is a beautiful melody that I loved the first time I heard it, the first song by a Beatle to reach #1 after their breakup. It contains a truly classic GH slide solo (teardrop slide guitar licks, one critic phrased it). Forty-four years ago this week, MSL hit #1.
