AAP – AAM AADMI PARTY AND THEIR TANGO WITH POLITICS This is one of those occasions when I would wish to be proved wrong in my predictions. I foresee that AAP will have a great crushing fall and the day dream of sweeping the system clean would be over. Why I wish to be proved wrong and hope that they succeed is simply because of the high risks involved in this adventure and the possibility of our loss of credibility in case of failure of this exercise. Jai Prakash Narain was a highly educated man, a solid core political activist and freedom fighter, a thinker and a visionary. Arvind Kejrival does not qualify to be his doorkeeper in that sense. Yet in the last years of his life, JP committed the mistake of his lifetime when sounding his bigul against the regime of Indira Gandhi, he gathered the parties and leaders of all colours and hues under one umbrella, to oust the Congress. This gathering of the most diverse and diabolically opposed ideological groups was nothing but a last ditch attempt to dethrone a strong leader and occupy the seat of power . Most of the parties did not have the slightest idea of what this concept of Total Revolution was. There were some very fine men in the near total revolution of political scene( not the system or governance), men of integrity, astute politicians and honest ministers, but the mix was not harmonious . There were too many contenders for the post of P.M , ambition superseded the greater cause. The total revolution of polity envisaged by JP, was of course nowhere in sight. JP saw the sad derailment of his movement and the demise of his dream with his own eyes. AAP is a party of phoney leaders and failed activists. One would be surprised to realise that the very awards and accolades received by these activists including Arvind Kejrival, are the symbols of their abject and dismal failure ! Arvind got the magasaysay for his relentless campaign for Right to Information. He admits privately that the campaign has failed and the movement is dying but he received an international award for misleading the people that the RTI Act, weak and disabled as it stands today, is the ultimate panacea for eradicating corruption. Then he came up with a greater folly in projecting that Lokpal is going to be the real saviour and finally he jumped into the battle of politics swaying his broom like a sword. In this venture he shares the worst idiocies of the political parties who make tall election promises and never fulfil them. The other parties have always got away with breaking promises but AAP will not be forgotten or forgiven for such a breach. Leaders and parties like AAP have failure and doom written on their forehead. This is not an Indian phenomenon alone but many countries have had such erratic movements in the past and some are embroiled with them even today. one has struggled, resisted, fought, reconciled at times with unprecedented corruption in this country. Our fight has been more like the cat and mouse story, but there have been real crusaders in this country who have sacrificed everything fighting the corrupt. Many have died a tragic death. There is a latent discontent in the people of this country who face corruption on a day to day basis and also in those who suffer the consequences of it everyday. This discontent is the only force which will one day grow strong enough to throw away all other concerns and bring the up side of the system down. My greatest apprehension is that the failure of AAP will cause tremendous loss of credibility of all civil society movements which run on the energy of this discontent. The discontented will get the shock of disbelief and with the result disillusionment will set in. People will remain disoriented for a long time and that is the worst thing you could do to harm the very cause you espouse mr. Kejrival! The
