AARP Releases Long Term Care Score Card A nationwide scorecard on long-term care has just been released. The overall news is good, according to AARP Kansas Director Maren Turner, who says our state ranks 17th overall. “The score card ranks each state overall and within 26 performance indicators along five key dimensions: affordability and access, choice of setting and provider, quality of life and quality of care support for family caregivers and effective transitions,” said Turner. Kansas ranks among the very least expensive for nursing home care, with only two other states and the District of Columbia costing less. The downside? Staff turnover rates. Kansas ranks 46th nationwide. We are also in the bottom percentile of states when it comes to the percentage of nursing home residents who could better be served in their home in the community. Turner says we rank 44th in the country in that criteria. wibwnewsnow/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/AARP-Long-Term-Care.wav Source: wibwnewsnow/ newsinkansas/aarp-releases-long-term-care-score-card-12/
