AB 2145 is a nasty bill in Sacramento to kill communities choice - TopicsExpress

AB 2145 is a nasty bill in Sacramento to kill communities choice of (cleaner) electricity supply, and we are fighting it. Here are 3 things you can do: 1) Click the Petition Weve (Sierra Club and many others) got a petition on Credos website in opposition to this attempt by the big utilities to preserve their monopoly power. Were getting thousands of signatures on that to the chair of the Energy Committee. Please sign it, share it, and send it to your friends. 2) Rally Thursday in Oakland for local clean energy & community power 10:30 am, Thursday, June 19 at the PG&E Service Center in Oakland (2 blocks from BART). Click Here for more info and to RSVP. 3) Call (or email) your State Senator We call on our State Senators, to do the right thing--to stand up and take leadership on Community Choice, clean energy, and jobs in the East Bay. Vote NO on AB 2145! Phone (or email) your state senator (see below)! Phone calls can have a big impact. OK, here are a couple more things you can do: 4) Call Senator Alex Padilla, Chair of the Energy Committee Call him at 916 651 4020. AB 2145 is scheduled to be heard June 23 in the Energy Committee. Senator Padilla, chair of the committee, is running for Secretary of State and will have considerable influence over the fate of the bill in that committee. We want to support candidates who show strong environmental leadership, including supporting community choice energy- a powerful tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Email Barbara at bstebbins14@gmail with your call results. 5) Go to the Energy Committee Hearing If you are really feeling riled up and want to go to Sacramento for the hearing, email Barbara at bstebbins14@gmail Thanks for all that you do! 350 Bay Area Senators Area Office Jim Beall Campbell (408) 558-1295 Ellen M.
