It was gathered that at about 8.30pm yesterday, the suspected kidnappers, who operated in a Toyota Siena car, blocked a Toyota Highlander SUV, along Okigwe/Akalana Street, Aba. In an attempt to kidnap the owner of the SUV whose identity could not immediately be ascertained, the hoodlums shot at him and a stray bullet hit a passenger on a tricycle, popularly known as ‘Keke Napep’. A source said the two persons were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were confirmed dead. Also at about 3.30pm yesterday, at Osusu village in Isiala Ngwa North local government area, a man, identified as Prince Umunakwe, allegedly stabbed one Ibe Emmanuel, from Amaku Nvosi in the same council area, to death. The victim was reportedly rushed to Central Hospital, Mbawsi, where he died the following day of injuries sustained from the stabbing. The suspect was reported to have fled the area after the incident. Abia State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, could not be reached for comments on the incidents, but a senior police officer confirmed them.
