ABOUT MANGALDAI Mangaldoi is a town and a municipal board in Darrang district in the Indian state of Assam. It was named after "Mangaldahi" who was the daughter of the [Raja] of Darrang and who was married to the Ahom King [Pratap Singha]. Mangaldoi is the headquarter of the Darrang district. Its population ranges between 20000-50000 according to 2011 census. It is an important trading centre for all agricultural products. GEOGRAHPIC AREA : Mangaldoi is located at 26°26′N 92°02′E / 26.43°N 92.03°E. It has an average elevation of 34 m (112 ft). It is situated at the north bank of Brahmaputra river. The town is at 65 km away from Guwahati. Its total area is 5 km. The important villages near Mangaldoi are the— Saikiapara, Lengeripara, Chapai, Menapara, Dhula, DAHI, Patharughat, Balipota, Sipajhar, Maroi, Duminichowki, Sanowa, Deomornoi, Kalaigaon, Balugaon and Dalgaon.
