AC/DC premiered the music video for the first single off of their new album. My opinion? Pretty much all of AC/DCs previous music videos seem to capture the intensity of the band, and generally is fun to watch, no matter how mediorcre the song might be. (Hard as a Rock? Dumb song, but still a cool video.) But this pile of a music video looks like somone just discovered what a green-screen is, and compiled it together with sports bloopers, none of which have a rock n roll feel. In fact, the editing of the band footage just looks like a compilation of the band playing all kinds of who-give-a-shit while the actual single plays in the background. Id have no idea they were actually playing in time if I didnt watch Brian Johnsons lips move. Check out that session drummer at the very end of the song. Real sweet job there, keeping in time with the music, buddy. Speaking of session drummer, its important to note that that isnt Phil Rudd on the drums. Phils probably off doing some blow and weed, or going to court, or yelling at his restaraunt staff. Stevie, however looks right at home playing with the band. Ill be excited to see/hear what his playing is like live. AC/DCs music videos are always a little cheesy, but it somehow adds to the amount of badassery theyre known for. Science wont explain it. But here, I found myself shaking my head a lot. David Mallet has been doing AC/DC videos for 20 years, but this is almost an insult to the band. Perhaps some foreshadowing to the failure of the upcoming album? Heres the video in case you wanna see it.
