ACCA new syllabus update Everything is on track for the ACCA exam revolution, which starts in 2014. E-learning director Clare Minchington told in an exclusive interview recently that she is pleased with the progress being made. The vision is still to eventually have four exam sessions a year, as outlined in the April 2013 . Interestingly, she is still envisaging the ACCA running these sessions, and not contracting them out to third parties. Minchington felt students will still look to sit exams every six months and use the new sittings as resits, to keep them on-track. What is important to her is ensuring all ACCA students get the 4-sitting option. Minchington explained that in February 2014 new types of exam questions will appear in the F1, F2 and F3 exams. These multi-task questions will be more complex, but be a much better reflection of the work place. The F4 will then become a computer-based exam in late 2014. The work on changing how F5-F9 will work is taking place right now. She promised that on top of free demos there will be lots of practice tests available (to buy), where students can have a go at the exam under real exam conditions. The ACCA is doing lots more for its students these days, and two new free online learning programmes to help develop softer skills are about to be launched. Minchington explained that if students like them then more will be developed. These will cover effective communication and working relationships. ‘We have tried to make them as interactive as possible,” she stressed.
